What makes Cayman so special? The lifestyle.

In previous articles I have made mention to a variety of attributes that make Cayman so appealing as a place to live either full or part time. From its safety to its pristine clear seas to the education and healthcare systems to its strong government and more, the Cayman Islands are a very special, first-class, and unique place to live.

Over the next few weeks, I thought I would provide a more comprehensive look into the Cayman Islands beginning with our incredible lifestyle.

For a country that is only 102 square miles, the Cayman Islands provides a lifestyle unlike many places in the world and with its easily accessible location it is even more appealing especially for individuals who may need to travel for work.

Location

The Cayman Islands are located 90 minutes from Miami and 4.5 hours from New York or Toronto. When our islands begin to reopen, and incoming flights are resumed the regularly scheduled flights will begin again. Historically, Grand Cayman International Airport is serviced by direct flights from Toronto, Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Miami, Orlando, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Denver and more, plus it includes a fully equipped, first-class private airport. Additionally, the runway expansion, which was completed last year, will see additional non-stop flights from the Western part of US and Canada such as Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

With all these direct flights coupled with our proximity to the United States, our location allows people to fly off for meetings either for the day or a few days and then return home to paradise. Of course, if we’ve learned anything over the last year, it’s that many traditionally office-bound jobs can now be done from home either on a full or part time basis, which means home can be almost anywhere you desire.

Activities

The activities and experiences that Cayman offers are wide and varied. Beaches, diving, snorkeling, family activities, golfing, watersports, shopping, restaurants, tours and adventures, nightlife, spas, farm-to-table experiences, yoga, gyms, horseback riding, caving, bicycling, birding, boating, fishing, kayaking, kitesurfing, paddle boarding, sailing, and the list goes on and on.

Escape, recharge and relax

When many people come to visit the Cayman Islands it’s often to escape, recharge and relax. All those lifestyle qualities can be enjoyed every day when you live here.

…at the beach

When you think of Cayman the first thing that often comes to mind is the beach and Seven Mile Beach. Given Grand Cayman’s relatively small size, one of the best beaches in the world can be right outside your window at The Watermark, Aqua Bay or Lacovia, all under development. It can also be less than 5 minutes away from the Seven Mile Beach corridor and fantastic canal homes such as Casa Bella or Jellicoe Quay or a short drive from South Sound and new, more reasonably priced homes such as Montage at South Sound.

The lifestyle connected to the beach is endless from scuba diving to snorkeling to swimming and relaxing on the beach to watching the sunset from one of Cayman’s many top-ranked restaurants. As one of the top scuba diving destinations in the world, Cayman features 365 dive sites many of which are shore dives or a just quick boat ride away. Of course, you can just grab your snorkel and mask and immediately be transported into an underwater world.

…at a restaurant

Regarded as the culinary capital of the Caribbean Cayman offers an abundance of restaurants from legendary fish shacks to Michelin starred restaurants and everything in between. Dining is more than just eating in the Cayman Islands. It’s about sharing a meal with friends or family in stunning locations. Want to see an amazing Cayman sunset? Pull up a chair on the patio at Lobster Pot. What about the ultimate fine dining experience? Check out Blue by Eric Ripert at The Ritz-Carlton. And what about brunch? Cayman takes brunch very seriously and it’s not just a meal it is an experience. Take in brunch on Seven Mile Beach with endless bubbles and outstanding food at Tillie’s.

…on the water

Everything in Cayman is close to the water and thus boating is a large part of the Cayman lifestyle including deep sea fishing, scuba diving or just relaxing among the stingrays. Many developments in Grand Cayman directly cater to this boating lifestyle with both canal and direct access to North Sound and thus just minutes away from Stingray City or Rum Point. Many homes such as Bimini Drive Family Home in Grand Harbour and Jellicoe Quay Canal Front Home along the Seven Mile Corridor include their own private docks. And it’s not just limited to single-family home. Britannia owners can get access to dock space as well plus there are numerous, easily accessible yacht clubs to moor your boat.

…in your own private home

Now more than ever, a home has become more than just the place we live. Many people, especially those in larger cities, are looking to move away from traditional crowded living environments such as downtown cores. They are moving to smaller towns and purchasing larger homes with more space and more land which leads to more privacy. With many people working remotely and many taking advantage of the Global Citizen Concierge program here in Cayman, home can be almost anywhere.

One of the best things about Cayman is our year-round tropical weather which enables us to experience indoor and outdoor living all year round. Thus, the Cayman lifestyle is easily achieved in your own private home. Prospect Point Seafront Estate is a 6 bedroom, 5.5 bathroom, 7,000 sq. ft. home that is situated on 2.5 acres. With its position right on the point, it provides both spectacular sunrises and sunsets all of which can be enjoyed from your private pool, secluded beach, lush and expansive gardens or on the patio.

Now lifestyle doesn’t have to be about seclusion. Lifestyle can be about inclusion and amenity rich residences such as The WaterColours on Seven Mile Beach which features 4 owner’s guest suites, luxurious car service, chef’s kitchen, full bar service, pool deck and beach, fully equipped BBQ on the beach, large multi-level infinity edge pool, customized massage room, 24-hour security, full time concierge, valet, beachfront owner’s lounge with wine storage, morning coffee and tea service, pool towel service, beachfront state-of-the-art fitness studio, boardroom and more.

When it comes to lifestyle, the Cayman Islands offers something for everyone in an easily accessible location to the US, Canada and the UK which is reflected in the expansive variety of homes and condos available for sale.
