The Brokers and Agents at REMAX have made a donation to the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman’s “Buy a Kid Breakfast” Programme as part of our ongoing commitment to community service.

The Buy a Kid Breakfast Programme was the brainchild of long time Kiwanian Paul de Freitas, and the goal was to insure every child going to school didn’t start the school day hungry.

Started in 2006, the Kiwanis Club has raised about $25,000 each year for the program over the last 8 years. The Program is funded completely through donations. The fund raising effort includes Members spending a Saturday at one of 5 supermarkets on the Island soliciting funds from the public, four times per year. Additionally, they’ve just hosted a “Buy a Kid Breakfast” Dinner Fundraiser. $5,756.00 was raised at the most recent Dinner. Direct donations from local businesses also help. All the funds raised go towards the Breakfast Program.

To implement the Program, the Kiwanis Club receives funding requests from the Principals of the participating Primary Schools, in order to insure each and every child in their school is able to have breakfast. Some primary schools have canteen services, which provide a hot breakfast, and other schools stock pre-packaged foods they can hand out to students. The Principals administer the Breakfast Program donations as they can determine which students need the meal assistance. Primary schools that have accepted the funding from the Buy a Kid Breakfast Program are located in George Town, Red Bay, Prospect, Savannah, North Side and East End.

RE/MAX Cayman Island’s Brokers and Agents are very pleased to be able to assist with a program that benefits children, who are our future. For further information on the Program, or to donate, please contact either Kiwanian Kadi at 916-8664 or RE/MAX Associate Scott Roe at 526-8000.
