Over the last few weeks there have been some major announcements with respect to development and re-development along Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman especially with respect to new luxury condos for sale. I thought I’d take this opportunity to bring you some exciting news in this area.

Lacovia

The $350 million redevelopment of Lacovia on Seven Mile Beach was officially green lit by the current owners of Lacovia.

As the transformation gears up to commence in September, IP Driver Ltd, the local subsidiary of the Canadian firm JV Driver Construction Ltd, will orchestrate the preparatory work, paving the way for demolition.

Lacovia will be the epitome of modern luxury condos on Seven Mile Beach blending inspired architecture and contemporary interior design. Lacovia offers 14 exclusive floor plans ranging from 3 to 8-bedroom apartments, all outfitted with luxury appliances and bespoke finishes. Designed for distinction by Swedish architects, OOAK, these exclusive residences maximize light and views with 10-foot floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors. The expansive terraces with frameless glass railings capture the spectacular vistas of Seven Mile Beach from every angle. As of today, there are only 15 units that remain available for sale.

Within this masterpiece of architecture is a long list of services, facilities, and amenities for owner’s convenience and enjoyment, as well as a solid rental income opportunity; concierge services, state-of-the-art fitness center, 24/7 security, infinity edge pools and hot tub, beach and pool attendants, food and beverage services, private beach cabanas, bellhop and valet, club level lounge, spa services, sports equipment for Sea and land, and more.

The Westin

In late July planning granted permission for the owners of The Westin to build a 10-storey hotel block with 234 guest rooms and a conference centre at its resort on Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman: a $153 million expansion project.

The new building, a hotel tower with a restaurant, lounge, fitness and wellness facilities, laundry and rooftop bar with landscaped pool and deck, will be built between the Villas of the Galleon and the main hotel block of The Westin. It will replace the current building where the Westin’s Beach House restaurant is located. The conference centre will be built behind the current main hotel block towards the north.

The existing Westin resort, built between 1994 and 1999, includes a five-storey hotel with 343 guest rooms, a pool, a spa facility, meeting rooms, conference space, and two restaurants.

The Watermark

The Watermark is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated luxury condo developments currently under construction along coveted Seven Mile Beach. With only a handful of residences still available for sale out of the 54 exclusive beachfront units, The Watermark sets the benchmark for bespoke elegance on Seven Mile Beach.

Construction at The Watermark is nearing completion and should be ready for occupancy in 2024.

The Watermark brings together exceptional amenities and services with modern architecture and design unmatched in Grand Cayman set on a quiet stretch of Seven Mile Beach where white sand, ocean and sunsets meet. From the International Property Award-winning team behind WaterColours, The Watermark will offer luxury waterfront condos that will redefine Cayman Modern, incorporating natural materials and framed views with resort-style service and craftsmanship.

Amenities at The Watermark are conceived and designed for both those who desire privacy and exclusivity as well as those who enjoy a more socially active lifestyle. Amenities include a full-service spa and wellness facility, fitness studio, private dining room, beachfront conservatory with wine storage, full bar, chef’s kitchen, fine dining restaurant, car service and valet, concierge, boardroom, private elevators, screening room, library lounge, beach cabanas, guest suites, children’s pool and splash pad, adult pool, expansive main pool, and 24-hour security.

Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman

Construction is well underway at the Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman and the superstructure is going up. This internationally branded 5 Star resort is estimated to complete construction in 2025.

Several new listings, starting at US $950,000, just hit the market from studio residences all the way up to three-bedroom residences that have the unique capability for lock off suites; all of which are priced at below market prices.

The Grand Hyatt will be Cayman’s second 5 Star resort after The Ritz-Carlton and will boast a modern contemporary design plus energy systems that are cutting-edge and efficient. Every single residence is beachfront with unobstructed views of the beach, Sea, and coastline.

The Grand Hyatt features a vast array of 5 Star facilities, services, and amenities including several resort pools surrounded by lush tropical foliage throughout the property, Jacuzzi, sandy ocean lagoon, world class Spa and fitness facility, VIP lounge, 6 dining venues, bars, Kid’s Club, concierge services, watersports, dive shop, snorkeling, nature eco-walk on coastline, private screening room, 24 hour room service and front desk and security, valet service, and much more.

In conclusion

These are just a few of the most recent and substantial developments that are happening along Seven Mile Beach, but they are not alone. The redevelopment of new luxury condos at Aqua Bay, at the North end of Seven Mile Beach, is in progress although a specific start date has not been announced. Seacrest, located between Crescent Point Resort and Sunset Cove, is now ready for residents to move into and Aqua, located next to The Grandview should be ready later this year.
